This past Monday, June Twenty-first, Two Thousand and Ten/Twenty Ten/2010, I went up to Washington D.C., to support and document the Gathering of support for Ms. Jamie Scott and her Sister Ms. Gladys Scott. Both are in a "Hell Zone" Not of Their Making and for far too long, these two sisters have been in this "Hell Zone" . Please, bear with me, wihle I digress and swerve over to The Repubs. This week the bill that included an extension of the federal unemployment benefit program failed to pass in the U.S. Senate due to lack of the Republican Party's support. A bunch of Job Seekers, a mil two hundred thou, by now, have lost their ability to pay bills. How long before Dancing In the Street ?

At Monday's Gathering of Support for the Sisters, there were roughly fifty people. Maybe, only a few hundred knew of the Gathering of Support in Washington, D.C.

    I don't think so.
"Me Tinks", only Fifty People Cared enough to Come out and Help Out.

Jamie and Gladys Scott are blood sisters and have been wrongfully convicted of armed robbery. The sisters received double life terms each. No one was Murdered or Injured during this Robbery. One witness testified that the robbery netted about Eleven Dollars. On the other hand, a victim said that around Two Hundred bucks was in his Wallet. Witnesses and the two alleged victims testified that the sisters had absolutely nothing to do with this robbery. Witnesses also testified that the sheriff coerced and threatened them to lie on the Scott Sisters. The sisters have been in prison since October of 1994.

The father of the Scott Sisters moved his family from Chicago, Illinois to Mississippi for a better life. He had no idea of the tragedy that awaited the family in rural Mississippi. On a cold december morining the Scott Sisters left their modest home to purchase heating fuel, as Jamie had run out of fuel and had a very young baby in the home. As a result, they experienced car trouble, which lead to being framed for armed robbery.

The transcripts state that one witness ( a teenager ) testified that the sheriff told him he would be sent to Parchman ( the notorious Mississippi Prison ), to be made out of a woman ( raped by men ) if he did not lie on the Scott Sisters. There exists, sereral affidavits which state that the Scott Sisters had nothing to do with this crime. The witnesses received very short sentences in this crime, while Jamie and Gladys have completed almost 15 years, of double life sentences each.

Scott County Mississippi was a dry county, meaning no alcohol could be sold in the county. A relative of the Scott Sisters turned State's Evidence on Sheriff Glenn Warren, which placed the sheriff behind bars. The sheriff had been accepting payoffs to allow business owners to sell alcohol. Deputy Sheriff Marvin Williams, briefly worked under Sheriff Warren and is the deputy responsible for fabricating this robbery. Deputy Williams is said to have promised the father that he would "get" him, even if through his daughters. This Robbery with Double Life Terms, is the method Deputy Marvin Williams used to "get" Mr. Rasco, Jamie and Gladys Father.

Judge Marcus Gordon presided over this trial. Judge Gordon is the judge who presided over Edgar Ray "Preacher" Killen's trial, which resulted in a hung jury in 1967. Edgar Ray "Preacher" Killen is the Ku Klux Klansman who assisted in the murders of three Civil Rights Activists; James Chaney, Andrew Goodman and Michael Schwerner in 1964. Killen was found guilty of three counts of manslaughter on June 21, 2005, which was the forty-first anniversary of the crime. Killen's punishment was 3 times 20 years for each murder — which was reduced by Judge Gordon to manslaughter.

The Father of the Scott Sisters passed away of a heart attack, knowing that he could not help his daughters out of the great injustice. Their mother, Mrs. Evelyn Rasco, left Mississippi out of fear of additional injustices. She has, however, been an Unmovable Force, in fighting to free her daughters and clear their names.

Presently, Jamie Scott is severely ill, as a result of kidney failure. She is not receiving the medical treatment that is needed and the prison officials refuse to allow her sister Gladys, to donate one of her kidney's to Jamie.

June 21, 2010 Gray-Haired Witnesses Fast for Justice in DC

"This is one of the worst cases I have ever heard of in my life, my jaw dropped when I read that these women have been in prison for almost 16 years and aren't even charged with laying a hand on anyone! This country should be embarrassed to have such a blatant travesty of justice exist while wagging our finger at people abroad for human rights abuses. What we have going on here is the epitome of cruel and unusual punishment and is outrageous, even for Mississippi!".

The upcoming day-long event at the Department of Justice, at 10am., is to call attention to the shocking case of the Mississippi Scott Sisters, two women who each received double-life sentences for an alleged robbery of $11.00 almost 16 years ago.

The public fast, press conference and rally also calls attention to the entire system of justice which increasingly incarcerates and oversentences non-violent Black female first time offenders, such as Jamie and Gladys Scott, punishing and many times actually destroying entire families. Sponsors are needed to help pay for the bus bringing Mrs. Rasco and supporters in Mississippi up to the Gray-Haired Witnesses Fast for Justice on 6/21 so that she, her children and grandchildren can speak on behalf of Jamie and Gladys Scott.

Gloria's Kitchen is one of Mrs. Rasco's greatest supporters in Mississippi and have made bumper stickers, t-shirts, lots of phone calls, flyering and much more in the fight for freedom for the Scott Sisters and are now making arrangements for the bus, but the expense is very great.

Please mail a M.O. for whatever you can spare (no amount is too small!) ASAP made out to Donnie Finley and mail to:
