Mr. Ralph Pointer Splainin the Hand Jive

Why is the government going after Lynne Stewart?

Facts about the Lynne Stewart Case

Here's What I observed :

I called Mr. Jon Abdul.

Me: 'Abdul, Hi, are you going to support Lynne next thursday' ? "I don't know yet, get back to ya". Me: 'Ok'.

A few days later, Mr. Abdul calls me. "Yo, yes I'm going". Me: 'Ok, I will pick you up at Eleven a.m.' Mr. Abdul: Hangs up the phone.

July fifteenth, I left Vir. Bch. @ five twenty five a.m., using Interstate Sixty Four West to Interstate Ninety Five North and arrive in Philadelphia @ Ten forty a.m. Well, I could hardly believe my brown eyes. There along with Abdul stood the Honorable Ms. Pam AFRIkA. I quickly hop out and open the door for the Lovely Lady. Mr. Abdul just looks at me. At first I am Bewitched, Bothered, And Bewildered, am I, then I finally realized, Mr. Abdul is waiting to drive us to 500 Pearl Street, N.Y.C.

I noticed, as Mr. Abdul approached the entrance into the Holland Tunnel, a phalanx of security, ostensibly a by-product of the World Trade Center's Demise. Durning my last visit to Manhattan, last May, as a participant in the Five Boro bike Tour, disembarking the PATH Train at the World Trade Center PATH Station, once reaching street level, the amount and vastness of construction is impressive and you, almost intuitively know why. As I refocused on the present, Ms. Pam AFRIkA was directing Mr. Jon Abdul to Five Hundred Pearl Street.

Then, bam ! Lo and behold, there before me. is a sight for sore brown eyes. I asked Mr. Jon Abdul," Abdul could you please pull right over here ", pointing with my left hand index finger. Mr. Jon Abdul swiftly maneuvers over to the curb at our right.

Opening the front passenger door, I rushed out and over to greet Space Man ! " Space Man I have'nt seen you since, since I don't know when, Maybe...the summer of 2002 !

Space Man muses:

" What I want — is to break the chain — of the something for nothing — big gut — fat—lazy—assed—rambling minded—long smelly nosed—eyes darting—ping balled styled—regime killers — nation scavengers — almost always—Brown—Red—Black— Souls — lies propagating their wealth transfer told by AM's number one — two — three — etc. radio talk shows — all claiming the lazy and dumb are living off of their dime — Me tink — Duu — where did originally — " their dime " — come from — Hun — Hun — Hum...How did " their dime " become " their dime " ?

And Then — And Then — And Then...

And Then All of a Sudden, there appeared, out of nothing...

A Loud Thunderclap not unlike Escaping Pressurized Air...

You know, like the Big Bang "Theory"...

A mini Grey Vortex, with a circular rotating column of air, justa twisting and whirling...

Two hours out of Philadelphia, we arrive @ five Hundred Pearl Street. People, Signs, Banners, Placards, and Posters propagated the Court's Architectural Frontage. We roll-on past the Courthouse Scene, seeking R&R for the vehicle.

At an underground parking lot, just a little more than 200 ft. left of the United States District Court at 500 Pearl Street, the parking, for four hours, cost thirty dollars, plus thirty three and one third percent tax, uhuh, Thirty Nine Dollars.

Ms. Africa explained Plan B.

Park on the street — Subject your vehicle to 'A Ticket and Tow' — Spend Tic- Tock locating vehicle — Spend Cabbage and mo' Tic-Tock retrieving vehicle.

Thirty nine dollars. "OK"

I meet the unknown and greet from Washington, DC's and Philadelphia, Pennsylvania's M.O.V.E. Gatherings, the familiar personalities at five Hundred Center Street.

There's Ms. Steward's Husband, Mr. Ralph Pointer amongst others, splainin the situation to the Media. Ms. Steward's Youngest Daughter, Ms. Zenobia Brown, looking poised and positive, walks up and hands me a 'Free Lynne Steward' Tee Shirt saying " Pam said you were looking for interviews "

After taking a bunch of Digital Pictures, about a hundred and fifty this time, to publish, so far, two.

Ms. Africa, taking me under her Mental Umbrella, suggested we find the courtroom where Ms. Steward's Death ( If she stays inside the Prison System for just two years, at her age and Health Level, and being — 'All By Herself' — she's gonna — 'Lose Ah Good Thang' — Health Wise ) Penalty would be meted out.

The actual courtroom convening for Ms. Steward's Sentencing, I personally was not able to enter. No Pull...how..ever — the Honorable Ms. Africa was — Instead, after taking all the metal out of My Body's Coverings, I carefully walked through the Entry to the Building's Metal Detector, and, after depositing My Cell Pho ne with the keeper of all things not allowed in the Bldg., I joined a Queue of the Willing and waited, finally entering another courtroom showing three 'clerks', sitting in the area where the Judge usually sits, there was no one else, excepting three security people trolling/prowling the isles of Bench Seats, which seated the Positive Lumpenproletariat, with two giant Jumbo Trons up high in front, transmitting the proceeding taking place in the actual courtroom where Ms. Steward was seated, with two Privy Councillors on either side of her.
Me Tinks, 'Twas in Real Time.

The first time Ms. Steward's image was shown, I was startled and inundated by the thunderous volumes of 'yea's', 'we see ya', 'stay strong lynne'; and just a myriad of other shouts of elated joy, resulting from seeing first Video Image of her.

As anyone and everyone, well almost everyone, listening to the Judge meticulously start from 'In the Beginning' it took far too long, roughly two hours, plus or minus, before meting out those "One hundred and twenty months". I had the destinctive feeling, that the judge felt Guilty about such a long sentence for Ms. Steward.

And why, pronounce the sentence in months, instead of years ?

Does 'TEN YEARS' sound longer than 'HUNDRED AND TWENTY MONTHS' ?

Whilst waiting, along with everyone else, for the judge to read out the DEATH PENALTY sentence, mentally, I drifted to an experience encountered running in the forest...with Darla...or...Dorothy...?

So, there I was, sipping cold distilled H2O from a ninety six ounce vessel, formerly containing Ocean Spray 'Light' Cranberry Juice Cocktail, on a ninety six degree high noon day, all decked out and eager, ( after one month of break-in walking, in my geezer, seventies vintage, N.B. 993's, ) to run in them.

Out of my left peripheral vision I noticed a woman approaching from across the street. She wore dainty thin looking beige Slacks, with a light apricot colored blouse and a large

MORE LATER.

Lynne Stewart, the 72 year old "Peoples Lawyer" has been falsely accused of aiding and abetting terrorists and should not be imprisoned. The charges, long trial and her conviction are an effort at government intimidation against anyone who attempts to stand up against this government. The imprisonment of Lynne Stewart is a devastating blow to the legal system and to everyone's right to a rigorous and strong defense. The "Justice for Lynne Stewart Web site , describes the government's case against her as "an obvious attempt ... to silence dissent, curtail vigorous defense lawyers, and instill fear in those who would fight against the U.S. government's racism, seek to help Arabs and Muslims being prosecuted for free speech and defend the rights of all oppressed people."

So many wild lies have been sensationalized in the media over the past 8 years that it is important to review.

On Tuesday, April 9, 2002 Lynne Stewart was arrested based on charges that 2 years earlier she had issued a press release on the views of her client Sheikh Omar Abdel Rahman, a blind, diabetic and disabled Egyptian cleric held in total isolation in Federal Prison. No one was injured or hurt by her action and her press release was not a crime. It was an administrative violation.

Wiretaps and hidden cameras were used by the Government to illegally eavesdrop on attorney/client conversations to gather "evidence" against her.

Her widely publicized arrest by Attorney General John Ashcroft was treated as a tabloid sensation and the crime of the century. The jury was whipped up by fear mongering around terror threats and 9/11 baiting. Despite the fear and intimidation many thousands of people rallied in her defense, held fund-raisers, meetings and packed the court room day after day of a nine month trial.

On February 10, 2005, Lynne Stewart was found guilty of conspiracy, providing material support to terrorists and defrauding the U.S. government. Her conviction meant automatic disbarment.

The prosecution urged a sentence of 30 years in order to: "not only punish Stewart for her actions, but serve as a deterrent for other lawyers."

On October 16, 2006, Stewart was sentenced to 28 months after a national letter campaign to the judge by supporters, past clients, lawyers and even prosecutors. Judge Koeltl rejected the prosecutors' argument that she threatened national security and ruled there was no evidence her actions caused any harm. Judge Koeltl said that during her long career of representing unpopular clients Stewart had "performed a public service, not only to her clients, but to the nation."

On November 17, 2009, a three-judge panel of the Second U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals ruled on her and the government's appeals. The higher court upheld Lynne Stewart's conviction, ordered the district court to revoke her bail immediately, and demanded that she be resentenced by the judge who originally sentenced her, urging him to consider additional factors for a longer sentence. Prosecutors in the 2005 trial had wanted 30 years.

To put Lynne Stewart behind bars when no one was injured, no one was harmed, when those who produced the torture memos, those who produced the wars are going free is an outrage and a crime against justice.

Lynne Stewart believes her case is a trumped-up maneuver to warn attorneys with an interest in social justice away from taking on the government. Says Stewart: "I believe the larger implications are that this is a warning shot for other lawyers. Don't advocate for your clients in a vigorous, strong way or you will end up like she did. Disbarred and in jail."

Lynne did not abandon justice-loving people and we cannot abandon her. Lynne Stewart is known for seeking justice not only in the courts but also on the streets, appearing at many protests and rallies.

Attorney Lynne Stewart is a target and a victim of the Patriot Act. We must remember that Lynne Stewart spoke and speaks truth to power on behalf of the everyday people and we can do no less.

By supporting Lynne Stewart, we are loving and supporting the very best in ourselves. We are defending the Bill of Rights and civil liberties.
